TV Shows That Were So Close To Being Canceled
9 TV Shows You're Going to Be Obsessed With This Summer
1.Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt(May 19; Netflix)
The second season ended with Kimmy finding out she's married to The Reverend and Titus heading to perform on a cruise ship. Is it possible he returns as Beyoncé?
2.Twin Peaks(May 21; Showtime)
Little is known about David Lynch's revival, other than it's whipped fans into a frenzy. If you need to play catch-up before the show returns, the original two seasons are available to stream on Netflix. Don't forget to brew yourself some coffee first. (That'll make sense soon enough.)
3.House of Cards(May 30; Netflix)
Perhaps the show feels like overkill given the state of our actual government, but at least Frank and Claire Underwood are fun to watch. Can't say the same for real life.
4.Orange Is the New Black(June 9; Netflix)
Pour (another) one out for Poussey. The fifth season will take place over the course of three days, picking up after the events of the season-four cliffhanger, when Daya was seen pointing a gun at the head of evil officer Humphrey.
5.Orphan Black(June 10; BBC America)
It's the fifth and final season of the sci-fi series that brought you Tatiana Maslany (times a million). “The focus of season five, obviously, is we all want answers, goddammit,” co-creator John Fawcett said at Comic-Con earlier this year. “Much as planning the final season is bittersweet, the fun is knowing the ending. Because we’ve known it for a long time."
6.G.L.O.W.(June 23; Netflix)
FromOrange Is the New Blackcreator Jenji Kohan, this half-hour comedy follows the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, a women's pro wrestling troupe that had its own show in the late 1980s. The series is inspired by real-life events and, according toVariety, "will be the fictionalized story of an out-of-work actress who finds one last attempt to live her dreams in the form of a weekly series about female wrestlers."
7.The Bold Type(July 11; Freeform)
The show follows a group of women's magazine editors at a fictional publication calledScarletand answers the question, "What's itreallylike to work at a major women's brand?" Shout-out to executive producer and formerCosmoeditor Joanna Coles, whose own experiences inspired the series.
8.Game of Thrones(July 16; HBO)
The teaser poster (below) offers little to no information about what's coming in season seven, but it does hint at the long-awaited battle between ice and fire. Will Daenerys, last seen on her way to Westeros, meet her long-lost nephew Jon Snow? Chances are high.
9.Insecure(July 23; HBO)
The excellent first season of Issa Rae's show left off on a devastating note, with Lawrence —SPOILER ALERT— cheating on Issa as payback.
