We caught up with Milan Costich, founder and trainer at Prevail in Los Angeles, to hear how a newbie can prepare to get down with the latest agility craze and clear up those terrifying myths that you’ll get punched in the face. 

“You don’t have to get hit to be a boxer. The art of boxing has many fun components-punching technique and combinations, footwork, plyometrics, agility training,” says Costich. Expect the fast-paced class to leave you sore. Costrich shared, ”Boxing, when done properly, utilises every muscle in the body for fast and dynamic movements.” But, no need to fear bulking up. You can expect long, lean, and toned results according to Prevail.Keep scrolling for five things to know before you show up for your first class.

Make sure to eat enough (but not too much) about two hours before your workout! Your body needs fuel for energy, and everybody is unique. Try out some different pre-workout meals and pay attention to how you feel during your workout; your body knows best and will always tell you what it wants!
